About the Scholarship

The I.B. Dawkins Youth of Color Scholarship is a grassroots, community funded, micro scholarship, that is meant to provide financial assistance for students of color seeking to attain a post-secondary degree or participate in a work program of their choice.

This scholarship is in honor of Isola B. Dawkins, mother of Mishereen whom this foundation is named after. Mishereen is the owner/CEO of Lens on Records L.L.C, a premier entertainment company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mishereen wanted to dedicate this scholarship to her mother because it was because of her sacrifices that allowed Mishereen and her sibling to get the education needed to achieve the so called, "American Dream." The immigrant story of coming to America, working hard, getting educated, becoming successful and giving back is the epitome of what this foundation and scholarship is founded on.
